How to grow your Instagram page for business

A crazy 1 billion people use Instagram EVERY MONTH! If you’re not using Instagram to market your business, you could be missing out on a huge audience just waiting for you. Users spend an average of 28 minutes on Instagram every day, so your content could be reaching lots of new people.

I have put together some tips on how you can grow your Instagram for business and reach as many potential customers you can.

Be Consistent

With the ever-changing algorithms that both Instagram and Facebook have, it is so important to be consistent with your content. Instagram likes to see you post regularly and will reward you by showing your posts to more people. This however, doesn’t mean you have to post every single day, you just need to set a posting schedule and stick to it (eg. Post one image on your profile every other day).

Interact with Others

It sounds obvious, but Instagram is a SOCIAL media platform, so make sure you are being social on it! Find accounts with similar interests to you, as well as businesses in your local area who you can connect with. Make sure to spread the love with likes and meaningful comments on content you enjoy. This in turn, should increase your own posts’ engagement which then increases the amount of people that your post reaches.

Following on from the previous point, there is a huge sense of community within different areas on Instagram that you could join in with. Not only is this good for networking, but these accounts will also support you and introduce your company to their followers too. Make sure to find a community that you can relate to, such as your location or your industry.

Your Branding

As well as being consistent with your posting, you also need to be consistent in terms of your content. Make sure all your content has the same colours, fonts and style so people can instantly recognise your posts.

Instagram has been created to be aesthetically pleasing and the standard of content has definitely risen in more recent years. Post content you are proud of, with high quality imagery. Display a clear logo as your profile picture and design some story highlights with matching covers.

Instagram Stories

Instagram stories launched just over 3 years ago, and they are now a huge part of how people use Instagram. Some people even prefer to flick through stories rather than scroll their feed.

You can use Instagram stories to give your followers more spontaneous content, such as:

  • Behind the scenes photos and videos.
  • Videos of you talking so they can get to know you better.
  • User generated content you may be tagged in.
  • Quick snapshot messages.

Using Instagram stories will really help to reach even more people and increase your brand awareness. Save all your story content to separate highlights so people who visit your profile can also view your stories to find out more.

Give Value

Give your audience a reason to follow you and keep on coming back for more! You can add value in lots of different ways, such as:

  • Free content
  • Video Tutorials
  • Introduction to the behind the scenes of your business
  • Hints and Tips
  • Recommendations

This will really make your business stand out from the crowd and makes people remember you.

Tell a Story

It is so true what they say; people buy from people. Make sure you are giving your audience a story they can relate to. This could be in your captions, your Instagram stories or even in how you interact with others. Engage with people and start a conversation!

Hashtags are an amazing way for new accounts to find you, and also to find new accounts to follow. You can see how many people you are reaching with your hashtags under the ‘insights’ section, so make sure to test different hashtags. Stay away from the HUGE hashtags that have millions of uses because the likeliness of you being seen is very small. Aim to use the full 30 hashtags on each post to give you a better chance of reaching more people. Make sure they are also relevant to what you are talking about or the content you are posting, as well as some general ones you think your target audience would search.

Be Patient

Finally, remember to be patient! Your profile will not grow overnight (Unless you’re Jennifer Aniston, of course!). But, if you keep being consistent and post amazing content, you will see results and your business will grow.

I do hope these tips have been useful and you can start implementing them into your own business today!

Growing your email list using lead magnets

If you are looking to grow your email list, lead magnets may just be your answer! By using lead magnets, you can not only gain new prospective customers’ contact information but they also allow you to start building a relationship with potential new customers.

What is a lead magnet?

A lead magnet is when you offer something to your ideal customer that they will want, in return for their email address.

There are many different types of lead magnets you can create for your ideal customer, such as:

  • Tip Sheet
  • Guide
  • Videos
  • Checklist
  • Calendar/Planner
  • Digital Download
  • E-book

Creating your lead magnet

When you have decided what kind of lead magnet you are going to offer, you then need to create it. There are various tools you can use to design one, my personal favourite is Canva, or you could have it created for you (link to services page).

Your lead magnet needs to be low investment, this means it is not too long for people to read through to actually get the information.

Your lead magnet should be tailored to your potential customers’ pain points, so think about what they need help with right now.

Make sure what you are offering is valuable to avoid any disappointment.

The Process

You will need to create a landing page where people can sign up for your lead magnet. You can create a landing page on lots of different platforms, some more costly than others. A great free platform is Mailchimp.

Keep your landing page simple – just ask for their name and email address and be clear with what they will receive in return.

A typical lead magnet journey may look like this:

  • Call-to-action – The original post you use to promote your lead magnet that includes a link or button to your landing page.
  • Landing page – Where your visitor will input their name and email address.
  • Thank you – Visitors are then taken to a confirmation landing page where they can download the resource.
  • Email series – Once they have been added to your email list, you can then start with a series of welcome emails to start warming that potential customer up.

Promoting your lead magnet

Share your lead magnet EVERYWHERE you can! This can be via social media, paid ads, your website and your email signature.

Get growing that email list!
